Week 7
Mockup
Based on the final sketch we decided on, this week we will create a mockup of the bento box.
We started by digitizing the inside of the bento lid and bento box lid so that we could print them out and glue them onto the model.

We used a 1:1 ratio to draw the box expanded view in Illustrator, not only to confirm the size of the box but also to ensure its accuracy.

When everything is ready in advance, we start making the box model. I think this is the most challenging part in this task, especially the internal division of the bento box. We need to create a curved yokai shape, so we need to carefully choose the materials to ensure success. We have prepared various materials such as cardboard, soft clay, and PVC cardboard and have tested them step-by-step. Ultimately, we decided to use PVC cardboard, and we were very pleased with the results.

The texture of PVC cardboard quite hard to paint. To tackle this, I applied a layer of water, allowed it to absorb into the cardboard, and then used Buncho to apply a thicker layer of colour. This method made the painting process much easier and smoother. So, this is what it looks like after colouring:

Week 7
Ms. Noranis said our progress is almost complete and we can submit our tasks in Teams

  Reflection

  Experience
In order to ensure that the team was able to produce the best possible finished product, we held a series of discussions both before and after creating the model. We constantly put forward various plans and ideas, which allowed us to achieve an ideal state of group cooperation. Everyone learned from each other, made progress and grew together, and kept an open mind to engage in productive discussions.

  Findings
The unity of a group is crucial in determining the success of any project, particularly the final task. This is especially important during a short semester, where the pace needs to be accelerated. If any link in the chain is too slow, it can indirectly impact the progress of the later stages. When we began this task, we had just over a week left to complete it, and each member of the team agreed to work together and give their best effort to complete their respective parts. This allowed us to successfully complete the overall task with ease.
