Project 1 - Animated Infographic Poster
After time exploring media and learning about information design, students will now develop an infographic that presents a series of different processes as visuals rather than text.
Requirement:
PART 1: Infographic poster
1. Choose 1 infographic poster reference from the Internet (Please consult before proceeding)
2. Redesign the poster into A4 size. Sketch the idea and process
3. Redesign and simplify the poster based on visual hierarchy & typography
4. Simplify the poster's design based on colour, shape & pattern
5. Attach the final poster on an E-Portfolio with explanation and reflective writing.
PART 2: Minimal animated infographic 1. Animate the designed infographic poster into one static loop animation page 2. Loop duration in between 15-30 seconds 3. Size: 1080 x 1920 px (Vertical Video) upload to students' own YouTube channel
Part 1 - Infographic Poster
This is the poster that I selected for redesigning, which I searched on Pinterest. After getting approved by Mr Fauzi, I started the part 1 task.
The chosen poster contains a lot of text, and I have visualised some of the text into charts, as well as designed a mascot for the "How to" section, which may enhance the simplicity of the poster. In addition, I changed the colour palette of the poster as well, as the chosen poster solely used pure white and red, which made me feel bored and monotonous.
Based on the submission requirement, I designed two poster sizes: A4 and 1080px x 1920px.
Final Outcome Poster:
Part 2 - Minimal Animated Poster
Moving on to the part 2 task, I used After Effects to animate my redesigned poster.
Throughout this project, I explored the principles of information design and how to effectively present complex processes using visuals rather than text. The project was divided into two main parts: designing an infographic poster and creating a minimal animated version of it.
This project allowed me to deepen my understanding of information design and animation. I learned the importance of simplifying content while maintaining clarity, and how to create engaging visuals through design elements and motion. Additionally, using After Effects helped me improve my animation skills and understand the nuances of timing and transitions. Overall, this project was a valuable learning experience, and I'm happy with the end result.
