      Instructions

After finalizing the app concept and ideas, we are now ready to move on to user experience design. Students need to create a comprehensive user experience design document to provide better guidance when designing the applications.

    Requirement:

    • Determine and verify the target audiences.
    • Outline the content element of the app, and exercise card sorting method to achieve optimum information architecture.
    • Listing the app features and identifying the application's Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
    • Create wireframes for main screens

The outline of the document should include:

    1. Introduction
Start the UX design document with an introduction that explains the purpose and scope of the document, the target audience, and the problem the app is intended to solve.

    2. User Research
Provide a detailed description of the user research that has been conducted. These could include user persona and user journey map. Explain how the research informed the design decisions.

    3. Information Architecture
Outline the content elements of the App and how they will be organized to achieve the optimum information architecture. Explain the card sorting method that was used and how it helped to organize the content.

    4. MVP (Minimum Viable Product) Features
List the App features and identify the minimum viable product (MVP) that will be developed.

      User Research

We are required to conduct qualitative and quantitative surveys to collect data. This is to gain a deeper understanding and insights into users' needs of the Kummute app.

    1. Quantitative Survey - Online survey
    ** Target Respondents: 50
    • Section 1: User Demographics
    • Section 2: General User Experience
    • Section 3: Navigation and Usability
    • Section 4: Visual Design and Interface
    • Section 5: Booking Experience
    2. Qualitative Survey - Interview survey
    ** Target Interviewee: 3
    • Section 1: User Backgrounds
    • Section 2: General Experience
    • Section 3: User Interface and Usability
    • Section 4: Book and Ride Experience
    • Section 5: Suggestion for Improvement

        User Research Results

I selected Google Forms as the online survey platform, the survey took about one week to collect data.

        Data analysis of online survey:

          Interviews:
I find three interviewees to share their thoughts on the Kummute app experience.

            User Persona

Combining the results from the online survey and interviews, we are instructed to create three user personas.

            Card Sorting

For the card sorting, I used UXTweak as the working platform. Since the free version can only create 20 cards, so I have yet to include all the features in the card sorting.

Click HERE to participate in card sorting.

            Information Architecture

Mr Zeon required us to create a flow chart and user journey map for our chosen app, not only to understand how the app organizes its features, this is also help us to keep our thinking while redesigning the wireframes.

I have also created the app's current flow chart, this is for me to make a comparison while I create the redesigned flow chart version.

Click HERE to view flow charts and maps in Miro.
** As I'm using the free version of Miro (sorry I'm too poor to afford it) it can only create three boards, so all of the maps and charts are working on the same board ;)

          App's current flow chart:

            Specific
Since you have created two types of app flow charts, you can use different colours to specify rearranged or newly added features for the redesigned version.

                  Reflection

The process of creating a mobile application proposal for Project 2 was a valuable learning experience that highlighted the importance of user-centered design and in-depth research. Developing a proposal requires balancing creativity with practicality, ensuring that the application's functionality meets user needs and effectively solves specific problems. This project emphasizes the importance of clear communication and presentation, as conveying ideas persuasively is as important as the ideas themselves. Looking back on this journey, I gained insights into collaborative problem solving, refining design concepts, and using feedback to improve proposals that will undoubtedly inform my future projects.
