Thematic Interactive Website Proposal for Brand Engagement

A thematic interactive website is a website that focuses on a specific theme or concept to incorporate interactive elements to interact with users. Most such websites utilize multimedia such as videos, animations, interactive graphics displayed on the page, or other clickable elements which have interactive components that provoke the user. This dynamic experience is meant to keep the user interested in addition to the thematic concept.

Themes in such websites vary from educational, cultural, and promotional campaigns to product launches. For example, a thematic interactive site could be a museum. Users can go through a virtual exhibition space through interactive tours, game simulations, or questionnaires. If it is a movie, the site can simulate movie universes offering virtual tours through time and space, or any other subject previously created in the movie. The aim of any such site is to keep the user engaged in the medium through interactive exploration.

Requirement:
Students are required to create a thematic interactive website proposal with the topic of their choice that can be based on:
1. A specific product of a particular brand launch/special (i.e.: Nike brand new shoe), Beauty product launch (i.e.: Sephora compact powder)
2. Movie promotion
3. Game release promotion
4. Gallery/Museum exhibit launch
5. Band/Artist latest release
6. Other (subject to lecturer's approval)

Submission:
1. Completed UI/UX proposal document.
2. All processes (concept, wireframes, mood board, flow chart)

  Preliminary Proposal

We need to list down five potential topics and decide which one will be the chosen topic for the final project. By this, we have to find visual references for about 10 as well as website references.

Besides, Mr Shamsul suggested a website where we can get some inspiration and also refer to. This website has benefited me a lot as there are many outstanding and unique websites through which I have been inspired and learned.

Therefore, I have come out with these five topics that I chose for my preliminary proposal:

1. Monument Valley
Monument Valley is a visually stunning puzzle game that follows the journey of a silent princess named Ida as she navigates through surreal, architecturally impossible landscapes.

2. Rusty Lake
Rusty Lake is a surreal puzzle-adventure game series known for its eerie atmosphere, intricate puzzles, and unique narrative style. Set in the mysterious Rusty Lake, the games explore themes of life, death, and time through a series of strange and unsettling characters and events.

3. Little Nightmare
Little Nightmares is a dark and atmospheric puzzle platformer that follows the journey of a small, vulnerable protagonist named Six as she navigates a nightmarish world filled with grotesque creatures and eerie environments.

4. Jelly Cat
Jellycat is a popular British brand known for its soft and whimsical plush toys, especially its wide range of cuddly animals and quirky characters.

5. The Truman Show
The Truman Show is a 1998 satirical science fiction film directed by Peter Weir and starring Jim Carrey. It follows the life of Truman Burbank, an ordinary man who unknowingly lives inside a massive, 24/7 reality TV show.

  Final Proposal

After discussing this with Mr Shamsul, I ultimately selected Monument Valley as my final project topic. However, sir said that I needed to think about what content I wanted to do as sir suggested focus on only one specific area, so I wouldn't overwhelmed with huge content.

Thus, I decided to do one of the chapters, which is Chapter IX: The Descents, with a storytelling base to provide a more immersive experience and explore the journey with the game's protagonist. The reason I chose this chapter is because it is the key moment that stands out in this game.

In this chapter, there are about four scenes and I have to plan the transitions between each scene smoothly and naturally. So I roughly drew out a sketch regarding my conception:

Based on these sketches, I created a flow chart and wireframes in digital form.

I'm okay with any topics that you choose as you have a clear idea and visual design. If you decide to do Monument Valley, you need to consider whether you want to focus on what specific area of this game.

The conception is good, and the content for your website is okay too. It might be better to add a progress line at the side of the website so viewers can skip or jump
and keep track of where the scene is currently. Then overall is good to go, just one thing you need to do is to plan how the transition animation will work in each scene.

  Reflection

Developing themed interactive website projects is an exciting challenge in creating immersive digital experiences. Focusing on Chapter IX of Monument Valley, I explored how to bring the emotional depth of the story to life through design and interaction. Balancing visual elements with user experience requires careful attention to rhythm and flow. An important lesson learned is to ensure intuitive navigation, such as adding progress indicators to improve clarity. Overall, this project deepened my understanding of creating engaging, story-driven websites that resonate with users.
